Ancra’s hub design for our 3-Bar winches was built to be not only easy to use but tough and reliable even in extreme climates. As opposed to having only a single, open bar as the mandrel spins, the design of the 3-bar winches includes three separate, connected bars that significantly reduce weight and increase usability. The 3-Bar setup provides simple strap insertion during snow and ice storms, helping to prevent the mandrel from freezing. The reduction in weight from the 3-bar design also results in less fuel expenses and/or a greater net cargo capacity for any trailer. The innovative design bears with it simple functionality and efficiency in saving both time and money.

The mandrel is constructed of seamless, solid steel, and the pawl pins are made of high-strength alloy for increased longevity and toughness. In order that you can be confident in the quality and strength of our winches, every winch is stamped with the Ancra name as well as its working load limit. Ancra has pushed even further with its 3-bar model, offering a selection with the corrosion-resistant X-Treme Zinc finish.

The X-Treme Zinc finish underwent a series of harsh SAE J2334 tests that exposed it to simulations of harsh-real world environments and driving conditions. The test studied the X-Treme Zinc finish as well as all other finishes. To simulate the rough conditions of highways treated with de-icing salts or solutions, the finishes endured 720 hours of regular exposure to sodium chloride, calcium chloride, and sodium bicarbonate, which were broken up into 24-hour segments. These segments included periods of exposure to the salt solution, high humidity, and relative dry. This wet/dry cycle introduces further corrosion than standard wet cycles in traditional salt spray tests. In the end, the X-Treme Zinc finish suffered a mere 1% of rust on the unit, while the black powder coat produced five times as much, the black e-coat ten times as much, and the zinc plating sixty times as much.

  • Standard: Ancra’s standard 3-bar winches are built for ease of use and simple functionality. The 3-bar design reduces weight and protects the mechanism against harsh freezing temperatures, ultimately saving you time, money, and headaches down the road.
  • Weld-On: The weld-on 3-bar models allow for the unit to be welded securely onto the flatbed trailer. Strap insertion is made easy with the 3-bar design and the construction is built to withstand years of use.
  • X-Treme Zinc: For the toughest 3-bar models, ask to add the X-Treme Zinc finish to your order. The finish makes the lightweight 3-bar design even lighter (ranges from 2.4-lbs. to 3.5-lbs.) per winch while also protecting the unit against corrosion.

Ancra winches comply with DOT, WSTDA-T3 and Canadian Standard 905 regulations.
